We are proud to offer the following advances in dentistry to make your visit more enjoyable, comfortable, and informative:

Diagnodent The DIAGNOdent is a precision laser cavity detection device. It is used as an adjunctive tool to detect and diagnose cavities in the grooves and pits of the teeth. Specifically, the DIAGNOdent measures laser flourescence within the tooth structure. Healthy tooth structure exhibits little or no fluorescence, resulting in very low readings on the display. Decayed tooth structure, however, does exhibit fluorescence, which results in elevated readings. In combination with our comprehensive examination, the DIAGNOdent allows us to detect cavities not only sooner, but also with more precision. Detecting decay earlier typically results in a simpler and smaller filling, which preserves more of the tooth and helps to prevent the spread of decay.

Intraoral Camera

Intraoral camera The intraoral camera is used to take digital photos of your mouth and teeth so that you can see what we see. We understand that sometimes you can't feel that crack in your tooth or that broken filling, or you may just wonder what a cavity actually looks like. With the intraoral camera, now you can easily visualize any areas of concerns.

Digital Radiographs

Digital xray Digital Radiographs (x-rays) have resulted in greatly reduced radiation exposure. The images are processed and stored on the computer, thus also eliminating the need for chemicals in the office.

For many patients, we may utilize ultrasonic dental scalers to remove plaque and calculus from the teeth during a prophy ("cleaning"). Ultrasonic scalers are electric devices which create a small vibration and cooling water spray on the tooth surface, thus breaking up deposits quicker and easier than traditional hand instruments alone. These scalers are also beneficial for removing and disrupting bacteria below the gumline.

Loupes are specialty magnification glasses which are frequently worn by Dr. Snyder and the hygienist. By magnifying the tooth surface, previously unseen cavities, plaque, calculus, or cracks can be detected. Loupes also provide more accuracy and precision during both cleanings and restorative procedures (fillings, crowns, etc.).

The Isolite is a revolutionary mouthpiece which provides tongue and check retraction, illumination of the mouth, and continuous suction of saliva and water during dental procedures. This device allows for greater patient comfort, improved visibility, and increased patient safety as it provides a barrier between the throat and oral cavity.
